What is Named Insured?

Named Insured is the person or business entity listed on the policy as the primary insured party—typically the legal name of your restaurant business.

What You Need to Know

The named insured is who the policy actually covers. Make sure your business’s legal name (not just your DBA) is correctly listed. If you operate as an LLC or corporation, that entity must be the named insured, not you personally.

Why It Matters for Restaurant Owners

Incorrect named insured designations can void coverage. If your policy lists “John’s Restaurant” but your legal business name is “John’s Restaurant LLC,” there may be no coverage when claims occur.

Verification Critical:

Always verify the declarations page lists your complete, correct legal business name.

Update Requirements:

When you change business structure (converting from sole proprietor to LLC, for example), immediately notify your insurer to update the named insured.
